Visiting this gallery is an immersive experience who none can miss out.
Born as a private collection owned by the Borghese family, it represents an amazing journey on the entire art history. In addition to this, part of the magnificence of this place is the building and its decoration of the XVIII century.
This tour will start with the many Caravaggio’s pieces kept here thanks to the Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of the Pope Paul V Borghese. A great art lover, the cardinal did anything for being able to obtain many of the paintings kept here such as the Caravaggio’s as well as the Raphael’s Deposition and Domenichino’s work. We’ll see even the beautiful sculpture about Paolina Bonaparte made by the great Antonio Canova; but above all, visiting Borghese Gallery means Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the baroque art genius. Scipione Borghese has been one of his first commissioners, reason why here we can admire many of his youth masterpieces such as the Rape of Proserpine, Apollo and Daphne, Enea and Anchise, the David.
