The tour of the Renaissance begins from the magnificent Triumphal Arch of Castel Nuovo: the entrance was commissioned by Alfonso of Aragon in the mid-1400s in memory of his glorious entry into the city.
The journey on the steps of Renaissance in Naples is not easy, since the city has been much reworked in the Baroque era but everything can be different with our specialized guides: an important stop is the whole area south of Spaccanapoli or better "the decuman of the Sea ”with several stops: Santa Maria la Nova, with its dazzling cloister where supposed to be buried the Count Dracula; the Renaissance Loggia of San Giovanni Maggiore, that still keep the straces of the artistic layers of the city; the magnificent Church of Sant'Anna dei Lombardi with a real hidden gem: the sacristy completely painted by an unpublished Vasari. The church preserves Renaissance treasures: from the buries of noble families to the “lamentation over the dead Christ”.
Another important stop is the facade of the church of Gesù Nuovo, that hides the inscriptions of the guilds of the Piperno masters, but our journey will end, after having crossed the whole of "Spaccanapoli" and Piazza San Domenico Maggiore where we can taste a great “Sfogliatella” or we could have a caffè, in the delightful church of S. Angelo in Nilo: on one of its altars, you can find the funeral monument to Rainaldo Brancacci Bishop, projected by the great Donatello.
